Result Sets
A Result Set is a set of projects that have been calculated together and stored in a database. Result Set calculation allows analysts to simultaneously calculate results for any group of projects or consolidation nodes, including full corporate consolidation. This function is also used to generate "what if" scenarios using sensitivities. The results of these calculations are stored in the database, and reports can be subsequently run on them without having to recalculate.
Result Sets are managed in the Result Sets Explorer. You can also create a Result Set from a consolidation node in your hierarchy by right-clicking on it and selecting the New Result Set option.
Depending on your requirements, you can create basic or advanced Result Sets. Basic Result Sets are quicker to set up and faster to calculate, while advanced Result Sets contain more settings such as weightings and variable sensitivities. For more information, see Create a basic Result Set and Create an advanced Result Set.
Another Result Set type is sensitivity Result Sets which are used to build tornado and spider charts against groups of projects. For more information, see Create a sensitivity Result Set.
Each Result Set consists of a number of Runs (minimum one). Runs contain the same inputs to which different settings are applied, such as alternative prices or sensitivities. Runs are displayed under Result Set nodes in the Result Sets Explorer and used for reporting and exporting data into other applications.
Access to Result Sets can be restricted. To define access for users and groups, select a Result Set and click on or right-click and select Permissions. The Permissions window will be opened (for more information, see Item Permissions).
